WVSA began as a 5000 watt AM station in 1966. Located on the AM dial at 1380, WVSA has long served west Alabama and east Mississippi. In 1989, Lamar Broadcasting added an FM station to the family, WJEC 106.5, and WVSA experienced a series of format changes in the following years, including King Country, Southern Gospel, and Sports Talk (ESPN radio).
In 1996, WVSA, along with its FM station WJEC, was purchased by Lamar Broadcasting Company.
In 2016, WVSA acquired an FM translator, allowing the station to broadcast on an FM frequency, and 100.7 The Voice was born. As a part of this transition, The Voice once again moved to a Southern Gospel music format, as well as local and syndicated religious programming.
In addition to great Southern Gospel, WVSA 100.7 is home to the long-running & popular local call-in program, Party Line, each morning. On Sundays, WVSA still broadcasts several local church programs, as well as the syndicated program, The Gospel Greats with host Paul Heil. Throughout the school year, WVSA 100.7 showcases a range of local high school sporting events, including football, basketball, baseball, & softball from several area schools across west Alabama and east Mississippi. WVSA is also the west Alabama/east Mississippi home for football & basketball broadcasts for the Tigers of Auburn University.
WVSA 100.7 The Voice has a signal reaching more than 15 counties in northwest Alabama and northeast Mississippi, serving a population in excess of 350,000 people. If you are interested in advertising with us & want an opportunity to reach a vast audience, give us a call or email today!
